Innovation: 6 patents granted in Milwaukee in week ending Aug. 15

Patent 1

There were six patents granted in Milwaukee in the week ending Aug. 15, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is three more than the week before. Patents included a lockout for pendant control or other terminally-positioned structure on a cord.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending Aug. 15 belonged to Rite-Hite Holding Corporation who filed in July 28, 2017.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
