United Healthcare issued the following announcement on Oct. 5
Northwell Health System and UnitedHealthcare today announced they have reached an agreement that enables both organizations to continue to work collaboratively on a number of key areas of opportunity over the next five years. Northwell has agreed that its full continuum of services will continue to be available to current and future UnitedHealthcare members enrolled in employer-sponsored, individual and Medicare Advantage plans.
The continued relationship will increase collaboration and care coordination between the two organizations through an expanded, value-based relationship. UnitedHealthcare will reward Northwell for achieving key quality measures that are proven to improve health outcomes for patients while also making health care more affordable.
“The COVID-19 pandemic caused unprecedented disruption and uncertainty on the healthcare system, especially within the New York market. It is important to recognize that a productive relationship between two of the most significant healthcare organizations will allow Northwell and UnitedHealthcare to continue in their missions,” said Howard Gold, EVP, Chief Managed Care Business Development Officer, Northwell Health. “The arrangement allows Northwell and UnitedHealthcare to continue an offering of high-quality, affordable healthcare to the communities that we serve.”
“We’re pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with Northwell, ensuring the people we serve have continued access to quality care at an affordable cost,” said Michael McGuire, CEO, UnitedHealthcare of New York. “Our collaboration with Northwell through this expanded value-based model will support our shared goal of providing New Yorkers quality, supported health care and simplifying their experience.”
