City of West Allis issued the following announcement on May 18.

MEMORIAL DAY OBSERVANCE CEREMONY, MAY 30 

The City of West Allis will host a Memorial Day Observance Ceremony on Monday, May 30 at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park at 70th and National Avenue. Ceremonial activities include a veteran's tribute, a flag ceremony, and a rifle salute. Speakers, including Mayor Dan Devine, will be joined by choral students from the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District, who will perform patriotic music. After the ceremony there will be a $10 picnic lunch served at Kane’s Bar & Grill in the Tanner Paull American Legion Post 120, located at 6922 W. Orchard Ave., from noon to 2 p.m. Burgers, brats, hot dogs, baked beans, assorted salads, snacks, and cookies will be offered. 

Keep an eye on the City’s website, subscriber notifications and social media for details on when lunch tickets will be available. The public will be able to purchase tickets in the next few days at City Hall, Kane’s Bar & Grill, and Limanski’s Pub.

EAST ALLIS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION DRUM CIRCLE, MAY 21 

The East Allis Neighborhood Association (EANA) is holding a Drum Circle on Saturday, May 21 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Burnham Pointe Park, located at S. 61 Street and W. Burnham Street. 

This community Drum Circle is a noisy, fun, family-friendly, free event where people can come together and join this percussion ensemble. This Drum Circle is run by Mark J. Soriano, from Arts@Large. Various musical instruments will be provided and available for use, so save the date and stop by! 

ATTEND THE COMMUNITY MEETING FOR THE BIKE RACE, MAY 24 

The West Allis Cheese and Sausage Shoppe, bringing you our summer Cheese Wheel Classic Bike Race, will be hosting a community meeting where you can learn more about the race, on Tuesday, May 24 at 5:30 p.m. at Station No. 06. The address is 6800 W. Becher St., West Allis. Join to hear more about the Tour of America’s Dairyland series, and what it means for you and the community. You will have the opportunity to meet and ask questions to the race organizers, event promoter, and City officials. We’ll see you there!  

 

A LA CARTE FESTIVAL RETURNS ON SUNDAY, JUNE 5 

After a two-year hiatus, the biggest block party in the City returns Sunday, June 5 from noon to 5 p.m. This street festival provides a venue to unite all of the people, businesses, and groups in the City of West Allis. It's a day filled with activities to bring together every member of the family from toddler to teenager, from parents to grandparents, for fun, games, food, and music. 

Noon to 2 p.m., local rock band All Very Tall will play, followed by West Allis A La Carte favorite, Milwaukee Blues Rock Collective from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.!

RENT A CITY PARK SPACE 

There are many great places to get outside in West Allis! The City of West Allis proudly owns and operates over a dozen parks and green spaces. Our City owned parks are open to the public. The park spaces may be rented for many occasions such as weddings, family reunions, graduations, birthday parties, or just a friendly gathering. Please remember this is a public space, and other residents may be nearby. If you would like to rent one of our park facilities, please visit www.westalliswi. gov/parks to view our list of parks, their amenities, and our park usage policy. Once you select a park, you can reserve and pay for your reservation online on our website. Please review our park usage policy on our website regarding rental guidelines and clean-up procedures before booking your event. For park use information, contact the Department of Public Works by email at dpw@westalliswi.gov or by phone at 414-302-8888, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
