On May 31 the Common Council approved file #230050 – a resolution approving the HaRUNbee 5K Walk/Run for Healthy Birth Outcomes as part of Bronzeville Week 2023. The 12th Annual Bronzeville Week will take place August 5-12, with the HaRUNbee 5K set to kick off the week of activities at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5.
The HaRUNbee 5K Walk/Run for Healthy Birth Outcomes, organized by the National Coalition for Healthy Black Families, will take place in-person. The popular event was designed to raise awareness and help prevent unhealthy birth outcomes across the region, and aims to promote wellness by encouraging families to stay healthy both mentally and physically. Those interested in participating in the event as a runner, walker or volunteer can learn more and register here.
Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs is inviting community members to participate in and support this year’s 5K. “The HaRUNbee Walk/Run has helped to raise awareness of infant mortality, which disproportionally impacts communities of color in Milwaukee,” she said. “By raising awareness, the participants are truly joining together to reduce infant mortality and to promote better physical and mental health. If you have not had a chance to participate in the HaRUNbee Walk/Run, I ask that you please join us in this great cause.”
