Wisconsin Lutheran College honors student achievements at annual convocation

On May 2, Wisconsin Lutheran College held its annual Honors Convocation in the Chapel, where students from nearly every academic program were recognized for their achievements through scholarships and special awards. The faculty speaker at the event was Dr. Ned Farley.

Among the honored students this year were Rebekah Luckwaldt, who received the Herbert O. Fleischer Memorial Scholarship; Calla Treder, recipient of the Lauren Evan Montoure Teske, DDS, MS Scholarship; Grace Hennen, who was awarded the Cheri Metzger Women in Business Scholarship; Mikayla Getka and Elijah Strutz, recipients of the WLC Investment Club Scholarships; Robert Jenewein, who received the Mary Heins Scholarship for Excellence in Communication; Lydia Gehring and Autumn Przybyla, recipients of the Didaskalos Award; Elysa Neal, recipient of an English Scholarship; Maddison Buch, recipient of the Renaissance Award; Jason Frey and Josh Norris, recipients of history awards; Laura Kvidt, recipient of the Melvin and Marion Meyer Human Social Services Scholarship.

The Freshman Honors in Mathematics Award was presented to Megan Grow, Ryan Henning, Richard Hill and Zoe Precup. Elisa Hatton received the Golden Lyre Award while Lauren Butler and Collin Cerny were recognized with Cantabile and Fanfare Awards respectively. Madison Le was presented with Nurse Pioneer Award while Tricia Bidinger, Katie Brown, Josephine Cronce, Peyton Hartman, Ella Karll, Kacey Mietsner, Lydia Ohde and Chloe Todor were recognized by Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society.

Alyssa Ebeling received Kepler Award in Physics while Ethan Howe received a Pre-Law Scholarship. Haley Olson and Melanie Sanchez were presented with Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honor Society recognition. Elaina Wilson received Servant Leader in Psychology Scholarship while Leilanie Rubio was awarded Rising Star in Psychology Scholarship. Jenna Bickel, Jacqueline Farias, Abigail Pechman, Karina Qualmann and Lydia Weimer were recognized by Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology.

Kaylee Nelson, Morgan Ferguson and Jose Argueta received Dolores E. Rudolph Endowed Scholarship while Kaylee Cadeau received Meyer Family Scholarship. Jesse Kelley was awarded Ray and Denise Terrell Scholarship while Kayla Roethke received Willems-Kuehl Scholarship. Kendra Boyer and Jayla Mixdorf were presented with Jan Nelson Gompper Award for Excellence in Theatre Performance and Jay Sierszyn Award for Excellence in Theatre Arts respectively.

Ryan Broeckel and Lexi Martin were recognized with Roger Fleming Senior Scholar Athlete Award while Madalyn DuPrey, Isaac Kramer, Kaylee Mattek, Benjamin Meaux, Joel Perez Mendoza, John Rolsma, Carter Schneider, Lillia Thoms, Michael Wagner and Grant Wempner received Christian Leadership Certificates. Ella Borgwardt and Alecia Neumann were awarded Sharon A. Schoeneck Christian Women's Leadership Scholarships while Sarah Frederick was presented with WLC Alumni Scholarship. Stephanie Schafer, Grace Hennen and Laura Zank received Gary and Sandra Greenfield Christian Leadership Scholarships.

The Student Commencement Speaker was Hans Rupnow who was nominated by the faculty and chosen by classmates.
