The Milwaukee women's soccer team continued its strong performance in the Horizon League, achieving a 3-0 win against Wright State at Alumni Field. This marks their second consecutive shutout as they begin league play.

The Panthers, now holding a record of 3-6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Horizon League, added two goals in the second half to their initial lead. They maintained control throughout the match, extending their unbeaten streak in regular-season play to 21 games (16 wins and 5 draws).

"Good result for us, obviously the second game of a double weekend on the road is always a hard game," said head coach Kevin Boyd. "So coming into this Sunday game, I thought we did quite well. We were definitely the aggressor on the day when it came to trying to get chances."

Kayla Rollins opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the 32nd minute after several attempts by her team. Goalkeeper Parker Donahugh made four saves early on, helping keep Wright State at bay.

Kristia Karlof increased Milwaukee's lead by heading in a free kick from Lola Wojcik at around the 60-minute mark. Elizabeth Reece completed the scoring with her second goal of the season in the 74th minute.

"The PK by Kayla, I think that was on our fourth or fifth breakaway at that point," Boyd explained. "Second half, off a set piece, Kristina gets up and puts one away with her head which is outstanding."

Milwaukee's defense limited Wright State to only two shots in the second half and four overall during most of the match. Donahugh secured her second shutout of the week with four saves.

"We secured the shutout, which was a big objective of ours," Boyd stated. "We were happy to get quite a few players in and nice team effort for us on the road so … two shutouts, good way to start conference at 2-0."

The Panthers ended with significant advantages: 22-8 in shots, 13-4 in shots on goal, and controlled possession for over half of the game. Zoey Pagels led with six shot attempts from off-bench contributions.

Next up for Milwaukee is their home league opener against Oakland at Engelmann Stadium scheduled for Thursday evening.
