The Horizon League has announced its 2024 Volleyball All-Academic Team, with Milwaukee leading the selection with four student-athletes. Kara Erdmann, Lakyn Graves, Madi Malone, and Natalie Schmitz were honored for their academic achievements alongside 13 other Horizon League student-athletes.
Kara Erdmann, a finance and marketing major at UW-Milwaukee, boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.763. She ranks second in NCAA Division I for total digs and digs per set, having set a new single-season record for digs at Milwaukee with 685 digs and an average of 5.76 per set.
Lakyn Graves is pursuing a degree in biomedical engineering with a perfect GPA of 4.000. This year she is ranked 38th in Division I for total blocks with 127, leading the Horizon League. Her blocks per set are third in the league at 1.07 while her service aces place her among the top-20 student-athletes in the conference.
Madi Malone maintains a GPA of 3.553 while studying elementary & middle school administration. She ranks within the top-100 nationally for points and total kills and stands tenth in the conference with an average of 3.18 kills per set.
Natalie Schmitz is studying accounting at UW-Milwaukee with a GPA of 3.903 as of spring 2024. She ranks among national leaders in kills and holds twelfth place in the Horizon League with an average of 2.89 kills per set.
The Horizon League recognizes outstanding student-athletes through its Academic All-League Teams across its sports disciplines based on criteria such as maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.20 or higher on a scale up to four, completing at least one year at their institution while earning credits required by their academic program, and participating actively in over half of their team's competitions.
