Hundreds of students at Engleburg School in Milwaukee received new winter coats on December 2, thanks to a collaboration between Milwaukee Bucks player Khris Middleton and UnitedHealthcare. More than 300 students were able to choose their favorite coat with the assistance of UnitedHealthcare volunteers and other adults.
The event featured Middleton, representatives from UnitedHealthcare, MPS Interim Superintendent Eduardo Galván, and District 1 Director Marva Herndon. Students welcomed their guests warmly as part of the 12 Days of Khrismas giving events organized by Middleton and his partner, UnitedHealthcare.
Engleburg School serves children from 4-year-old kindergarten through 5th grade and is located at 5100 N. 91st St. This year’s event introduced a new element: the donation of a "hygiene locker" by UnitedHealthcare. The locker contains essential items such as toothpaste, dental floss, deodorant, and cleaning wipes to support an MPS initiative ensuring all children have access to these necessities.
United Healthcare stated that these items "can make a significant difference in a student's day-to-day life, helping them to focus better during class and participate more fully in school and social activities."
Middleton engages in various acts of service each December across Wisconsin, Louisiana, and South Carolina.
