Green Bay has been selected as the top team in the 2025 Under Armour Horizon League Men's Soccer Preseason Poll, according to a vote by the league's head coaches. The poll results were released on August 20, 2025.
Green Bay received four first-place votes and earned a total of 87 points to lead the poll. Oakland followed closely in second place with three first-place votes and 86 points. RMU was ranked third with one first-place vote and 78 points. Cleveland State came in fourth with 59 points, while Purdue Fort Wayne rounded out the top five with one first-place vote and 57 points.
Milwaukee was placed sixth in the poll with 55 points. The remaining teams included Wright State (seventh, one first-place vote, 38 points), IU Indianapolis (eighth, 33 points), Detroit Mercy (ninth, 32 points), and Northern Kentucky (tenth, 25 points).
The announcement also highlighted several returning players who received honors during the previous season. These include Matteo Correia of Cleveland State, named Freshman of the Year and All-League Second Team; Tom Mertz of Cleveland State (All-League Third Team); Jace Foster of Oakland (Sportsmanship Award/All-League First Team); Zachary Townsend of Oakland (All-League First Team); Abdul Al-Rashed of Oakland (All-League Second Team); So Nishikawa of Green Bay (Defensive Player of the Year/All-League First Team); Chris Album of Green Bay (All-League First Team); Tommy Coughlin of Green Bay (All-League Second Team); Andrew Hollenbach and Shane Anderson from Purdue Fort Wayne; Joshua Lane, Fabian Overkamp, and Anass Hadran from RMU; Drew Pierson and Guershom Sylvain from Detroit Mercy.
Additionally, returning members recognized for academic achievement include Drew Pierson from Detroit Mercy; Gijs Velings, Jago Thompson-Roberts, and Brady Horn from IU Indianapolis; Zachary Townsend from Oakland; Shane Anderson from Purdue Fort Wayne; and Fabian Overkamp from RMU.
