On Tuesday, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its annual All-Region teams. Milwaukee junior libero Kara Erdmann was selected to receive Honorable Mention accolades. This marks Erdmann's first career selection and she is the first Panther to earn a spot on the All-Region team since Ari Miller in 2021.
Erdmann, named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year and earning First Team All-League honors, had a notable season for the Panthers. The Forreston, Illinois native set single-season program records with 719 digs and 5.85 digs per set over 123 sets this year. Her performance led the Horizon League in both categories and ranked second among all Division I student-athletes. Throughout 32 matches this season, Erdmann recorded double-digit digs in all but two matches, including 13 performances of at least 25 digs. She also set a Milwaukee single-match record of 47 against Wright State on October 19.
These achievements increased Erdmann's career totals to 1,143 digs and a 3.93 dig per set average through 83 career matches and 291 sets played. In addition to her defensive skills, Erdmann added a career-best of 126 assists in 2024, along with personal bests of two kills and nine service aces.
Erdmann is one of three student-athletes from the Horizon League to earn All-Region honors. Lauren Yacobucci from Wright State and Panna Ratkai from Purdue Fort Wayne were named to the All-Midwest Region.
The Panthers faced off against other All-Region selections from Loyola Marymount, Marquette, Southern Methodist, Stanford, UIC, and Wisconsin during their season. Milwaukee concluded their season second in the Horizon League with a record of 15-3 and an overall record of 20-12.
