The Milwaukee women's cross country team secured their second victory of the season at the Warrior Invitational, held at Greenfield Park in West Allis, Wisconsin. The event was hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran and took place on Saturday morning.
The Panthers achieved a total score of 43 points, with four runners finishing among the top 11. Rachel Helm led the team by securing second place with a new season-best time of 22:43.90 on the 6K course. Head coach Andrew Basler praised her performance, stating, "Rachel ran a really strong race on a solid course. She continues to improve, and I fully expect her to be a top contributor at the Horizon League Championships."
Sara Jochims delivered her best performance of the season, finishing fourth with a time of 23:46.10. Brittany Helm came in 10th place at 25:45.39, while Rylan Oberg completed Milwaukee's scoring positions by finishing 11th with a time of 25:57.91.
Grace Kline was Milwaukee's fifth runner to finish, completing the course in 27:36.42.
In addition to winning the women's event, Milwaukee claimed the traveling trophy awarded for having the best combined score between men's and women's teams. The men's team scored 52 points, contributing to a combined team score of 95.
Looking ahead, Milwaukee will compete next at Bradley's Pink Classic in Peoria, Illinois on Friday, October 18 at 1:30 p.m., which will be their final meet before participating in the Horizon League Championships.
