Anelise Egge secured a first-place finish at the Horizon League Championships in Green Bay, Wisconsin, representing the Milwaukee women's cross country team. Egge completed the 6K race with a time of 21:07.9, marking her as the top runner in the Horizon League. This victory is notable as she is the first Panther to win this individual title since Meg Swietlik in 2020. It also marks her third first-place finish of the season at events held at Alumni Cross Country Course at Shorewood Park.
"A big congrats to Anelise for running a great race and winning her first XC championship," said head coach Andrew Basler. "She put herself in position right from the start, which is what you need to do in a championship race."
The Panthers finished fifth overall out of 11 teams with 111 points. Rachel Helm delivered an impressive performance by finishing tenth with a time of 22:04.0, followed closely by Cailin Kinas in eleventh place with a time of 22:05.9. Both athletes earned Horizon League All-Second Team honors for their efforts.
"Cailin and Rachel also put themselves in a great position at the start," Basler continued. "They used each other throughout the race really well and it showed in their finish."
Ally Schmitz posted a time of 23:35.0, securing 41st place, while Anna Gallagher finished in 52nd place with a time of 23:52.0, completing the point scorers for Milwaukee.
Other runners achieving their season-best times included Brittany Helm (24:41.2) and Grace Kline (25:34.0).
Looking ahead, Milwaukee will compete at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships on November 15th in Norton, Ohio, hosted by the Mid-American Conference. Top performers from regional events nationwide will advance to the NCAA Championships at Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Verona.
