The Milwaukee Panthers men's basketball team secured a significant 95-79 victory over Wright State on Wednesday night at the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio. Leading the charge were Kentrell Pullian and Themus Fulks, each contributing 18 points to the win.
Head coach Bart Lundy expressed satisfaction with his team's performance, particularly in the second half. "I thought we played really well offensively in the second half," Lundy stated. He highlighted key offensive rebounds and successful free throws as critical components of their strategy against a strong home team.
The Panthers improved their record to 14-7 overall and 7-3 in the Horizon League. This win marked their first road victory against Wright State during the regular season since February 2018. Reflecting on past challenges, Lundy said, "This has been a nightmare road trip for us the past two years."
Pullian's performance was noteworthy as he reached a career milestone by scoring his 1,000th point in NCAA Division I play. He completed the game with seven field goals out of twelve attempts and added four rebounds. Fulks narrowly missed a double-double with nine assists and three steals alongside his 18 points.
Milwaukee's balanced offense saw six players score in double figures. Erik Pratt contributed 15 points, including an impressive shooting from beyond the arc, while AJ McKee added 11 points and excelled at free throws.
Lundy praised this balance: "If we can keep that going, that's what good teams do." Other contributors included Jamichael Stillwell and Faizon Fields with ten points each, while Danilo Jovanovich scored nine points and matched his career-high with seven rebounds.
Wright State's Alex Huibregtse led all scorers with 21 points. Despite an early back-and-forth battle that featured multiple ties and lead changes, Milwaukee took control late in the first half and maintained their lead throughout.
The Panthers shot nearly fifty percent from the floor and made significant contributions from three-point range. They also capitalized on turnovers to maintain an edge over Wright State.
Looking ahead, Milwaukee will continue their road trip to face Northern Kentucky on Friday night at 6 p.m.
