Ben Lorenz sets new record at Wisconsin First Chance Meet

The Milwaukee swimming and diving teams participated in the Wisconsin First Chance Meet on Friday. A notable achievement for the Panthers was Ben Lorenz setting a new school record in the 50 freestyle event. Lorenz completed the race with a time of 19.97 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 20.12 seconds set by Jake Kalinowski in 2009. His performance earned him third place in the event.

In the women's 50 freestyle, Brielle Laube led Milwaukee by finishing sixth with a time of 23.91 seconds.

The day saw participation from 18 athletes representing the Panthers. Allie Buytendorp began the day with a strong showing in the 500 freestyle, securing third place with a time of 5:06.44. Sasha Gesner followed closely, finishing fourth at 5:07.14. On the men's side, Emery Reszka achieved second place in the same event with a time of 4:42.03.

In another event, Bella Sponseller represented Milwaukee in the 200 Individual Medley, achieving fourth place with a time of 2:09.82.

The Panthers are scheduled to return for further competition on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., concluding their participation over the weekend with a final session starting at 4:00 p.m.
