Milwaukee women’s track & field shines at Mark Guthrie Legacy Invite

The Milwaukee women's track and field team participated in the Mark Guthrie Legacy Invite in La Crosse, Wisconsin, on Saturday. The team delivered notable performances across various events.

Anelise Egge secured the first victory for Milwaukee with a time of 2:13.86 in the 800m run. Head coach Andrew Basler commented, "Anelise continues put together strong showings ... today she had a strong result in the 800m."

In the 200m dash, Victoria Evtimov claimed victory with a time of 25.38, while Anna Szepieniec finished third at 25.57. Szepieniec also achieved a personal best in the 60m hurdles and tied for fifth on the program's indoor leaderboard. She continued her success with a long jump of 5.82m, securing another podium finish. Basler remarked, "Anna continues to show her strengths... she's putting together a great sophomore campaign."

Olivia VanZeeland added to Milwaukee's wins by clearing 1.65m in the high jump. In pole vaulting, Hailey Soriaga and Isabel Roloff both cleared 3.64m, with Soriaga finishing second after tiebreakers. Basler noted, "Both Hailey and Isabel put together great days for us in the pole vault."

In distance events, Ally Schmitz led Milwaukee in the mile with a second-place finish at 5:15.56. Olivia Busch was Milwaukee's top performer in the triple jump with an effort of 11.37m for third place.

The team will next compete at Grand Valley State's Big Meet Friday on February 14th.
