The Milwaukee women's tennis team achieved a 5-2 victory over Valparaiso on Saturday at The Courts of Northwest Indiana. This win marked the conclusion of a busy weekend on the road for the Panthers, who now hold a 4-3 record.

The match began with Milwaukee coming from behind to secure the doubles point against Valparaiso, which holds a 3-3 record. The momentum continued into singles play, where Nikola Nikolajeva clinched the decision at No. 2 singles with a come-from-behind three-set victory.

"It was an absolute dog fight out there today," head coach Mark Goldin stated. "Every match was a battle and we had to earn every single point. This was a TEAM win."

Sara Simonova, Emilia Durska, and Elisa Rubio were key contributors for Milwaukee, each securing victories in both their doubles and singles matches.

"We talk every time out about improving from match to match and learning from the points we lose," Goldin commented. "Today we made a huge jump from the last match."

Valparaiso initially took the lead with a win at No. 1 doubles, but Milwaukee responded quickly as Rubio and Simonova won decisively at No. 2 doubles, followed by Durska and Laure Razet's win at No. 3 doubles.

In singles competition, Valpo evened the score with a victory at No. 1 singles before Durska and Simonova pushed Milwaukee ahead again. Nikolajeva then secured the overall win for her team with her comeback performance.

Rubio completed the day's scoring by overcoming Lillian Kelly in another comeback effort.

Looking ahead, Milwaukee will face another busy weekend starting with UIC on Friday, followed by St. Thomas on Saturday and Northwestern on Sunday.
