The Milwaukee Board of School Directors has concluded its search for a new superintendent, selecting Dr. Brenda Cassellius for the position. Dr. Cassellius, who previously served as the superintendent of Boston Public Schools, accepted the offer extended by the district.
This decision comes after an extensive selection process that involved over 50 applicants. The three final candidates visited the district on February 6 and 7, engaging with students, staff, families, and community members.
For those interested in learning more about all three finalists, additional information is available on the Superintendent Search page on the MPS website. Further details regarding the transition to Dr. Cassellius's leadership will be released in the upcoming weeks.
In related news, due to inclement weather conditions, all Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) will be closed on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. However, Central Services will remain open. All MPS 12-month employees are required to work but have been given permission to work remotely under these circumstances and should check in with their supervisors about their duties. Additionally, assistant principals, special education supervisors, and deans of students are expected to attend the AP institute virtually.
