Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) high school juniors now have the opportunity to apply to 11 top Wisconsin colleges and universities through a streamlined, no-cost process called Milwaukee Direct Admit. The deadline for this application is May 1, 2025, allowing students to commence their college education in Fall 2026.
Milwaukee Direct Admit is a project under the M3 partnership, involving Milwaukee Public Schools, Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), and the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (UWM). The initiative is designed to improve educational opportunities in Milwaukee by simplifying the college application process.
“Milwaukee Direct Admit connects a student’s MPS transcript directly to the schools of their choice,” facilitating broader access to post-secondary education options, especially for first-generation college applicants. By bypassing the need for essays, recommendation letters, or additional paperwork, the application process becomes both accessible and time-effective.
Students, aided by family members, fill out a simple online form that requires only their name and MPS student ID. They can apply to MATC or UWM or both, and have the option to apply to an additional nine University of Wisconsin schools through the Direct Admit Wisconsin option.
“Milwaukee Direct Admit is designed to take the stress out of applying for college,” ensuring guaranteed acceptance to at least one of the selected schools when applying to MATC and/or UWM. Responses from these universities will arrive within a month of submission, and all applicants will receive admissions decisions by September 2024.
It's important to note that applicants are not obligated to attend any of the schools that accept them. They must officially accept admissions offers and comply with subsequent requirements, contingent upon their successful high school graduation. The application portal is currently open, and any inquiries can be directed to mpsmke.com/directadmit or by consulting school counselors or College and Career Center staff.
