Milwaukee's volleyball team secured a straight-sets victory over Oakland at the Klotsche Center, completing a sweep of their weekend series. The Panthers' offense was efficient, recording a .302 hitting percentage with 39 kills and only 10 errors. They also posted a season-high nine service aces, led by Josie Noble and Milica Tomic who each contributed three.
On defense, Emily Hansen and Bella Lipski registered three blocks apiece as Milwaukee totaled six for the match. Kara Erdmann led with 10 digs, while Ella Schuetz added eight.
Schuetz topped the Panthers offensively with 11 kills on 26 attempts. Natalie Schmitz added 10 kills on 23 swings, including six in the second set. Noble had five kills in that same frame and finished with nine overall.
"It was great to see our team put it all together and play well for the second-straight match," said head coach Susie Johnson. "We were realty balanced once again and found success in all facets of the game."
The first set saw Milwaukee establish an early lead at 11-5 before closing out Oakland 25-18. Schuetz tallied five kills in this opening set, helping spark a decisive run.
In the second set, despite seven attacking errors, Milwaukee built a lead but faced resistance from Oakland who earned a set point after six consecutive points. Schmitz tied it with a key kill before two Oakland errors gave Milwaukee the 26-24 win.
"Oakland really made us work as they pushed back late in that second set, and throughout the match, really," Johnson said. "But we were able to hold off their efforts and responded well to finish strong."
The third set featured Milwaukee's most dominant performance with just one error on 17 attempts and limiting Oakland to zero hitting percentage. The Panthers closed out the match with a comfortable 25-14 win.
