A walk to "end" Alzheimer's disease in Waukesha County brought a crowd to the area focusing on raising awareness of the disease.
Rep. Bryan Steil joined in on the walk and urged the community to come together.
"Joined friends in Waukesha to raise awareness for Alzheimer's," Steil said in a Twitter post. "Alzheimer’s is a devastating disease that cannot yet be prevented, stopped or cured. As a member of the Congressional Alzheimer’s Caucus, I am working on the yet."
On Sept. 11, a walk to end Alzheimer’s was held in person in Waukesha County to raise awareness and funds for the disease, according to the Walk to End Alzheimer's website.
The money raised from this event will go to local research, support groups, education and informational services in the community, according to Patch.com.
The chapter’s goal was to raise $180,000 and they managed to raise almost $134,000, according to the Walk to End Alzheimer's website.
"The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's is full of flowers, each carried by someone committed to ending this disease," the Walk to End Alzheimer's posted on its website. "Because like flowers, our participants don't stop when something's in their way. They keep raising funds and awareness for a breakthrough in the fight against Alzheimer's and all other dementia."
