The Milwaukee women's track and field team commenced its season at the Blue Demon Holiday Invite hosted by DePaul in Chicago. Olivia VanZeeland achieved an individual victory in the high jump with a leap of 1.69 meters, tying her for fifth place on the school's all-time list.

"Our high jumpers on both sides all performed really well on the day," said head coach Andrew Basler.

Morgan Pilate also made notable performances, securing second place in both the long jump with a distance of 5.81 meters and the triple jump at 12.01 meters.

"We brought a small group down here, but we had a lot of positive results," continued Basler. "Morgan Pilate was a highlight on the day I thought she had a really great start to the season."

Victoria Evtimov, making her collegiate debut, tied for ninth-place in school history for the 200-meter race with a time of 25.15 seconds, finishing fifth overall.

Anna Szepieniec recorded the program's sixth-best time in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.66 seconds, placing fifth in that event.

Milwaukee is scheduled to compete next at the Badgers Midwest Invite in Madison on January 11, 2025.
