State Rep. David Bowen (D-Milwaukee) has announced his candidacy for Wisconsin lieutenant governor.
“Coming up on 10yrs of public service it’s clear leadership I’ve provided to unite people around issues that affect all of us is needed statewide at one of Wisconsin’s most divided times," he tweeted. "I’m honored to announce I’m running for lieutenant governor! #LetsWork”
Bowen, a native of Milwaukee, studied education policy and community studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and represents Wisconsin's 10th district in the house, CBS 58 reported.
Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes has announced her candidacy for the U.S. Senate, and is leading the Democratic field in fundraising, Wisconsin Public Radio reported.
In addition to Bowen, two other Democrats, State Sen. Lena Taylor and State Rep. Sara Rodriguez, have announced their candidacies for lieutenant governor, according to station WISN.
They will face each other in a primary in August, with the general election in November, the station said.
