Milwaukee Bucks forward Khris Middleton made franchise history in his second game back after testing positive for COVID-19.
The Sporting News reported that 30-year-old Middleton’s first shot in the Bucks’ 96-89 home victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Nov. 19 was a three-pointer that made him the reigning NBA champions’ new all-time leader in the category.
Middleton notched 1,054 career three-pointers to shatter franchise great Ray Allen’s mark of 1,051.
“This three-pointer feels extra special!! Congrats @Khris22m,” the Bucks’ Twitter account proclaimed.
In 31 minutes of action on his record-breaking night, Middleton scored 16 points, nabbed eight boards and recorded four assists plus a steal.
He was a hot 3-for-8, or 38% from long distance.
“Franchise leader for 3pt FGs made!! Trust the work and thank the man above,” Middleton tweeted.
Like Allen, Middleton came to Milwaukee through a trade, according to the Sporting News.
After seizing the record, he helped the Bucks sweep the Orlando Magic in a two-game set, going for a blistering 8-for-15 from three-point range.
A key member of the team that defeated the Phoenix Suns in last summer’s NBA Finals, Middleton also helped Team USA continue its unmatched gold-medal streak in the Tokyo Olympics.
