Two apartment buildings have suffered serious fire incidents in Milwaukee since Christmas, leading to several people being displaced.

"My thoughts are with those who have been impacted by the fire. Shelter and other resources are available at Alverno College gym (3401 S. 39th St.)," tweeted Rep. Evan Goyke.

The American Red Cross of Wisconsin tweeted on Dec. 26 that approximately 50 people had been displaced by a fire on the 3100 block of West Wisconsin Ave in Milwaukee.

More than 100 people have been displaced after a fire broke out at the Franklin Arms Apartments in Milwaukee on the morning of Dec. 26. Police have arrested a 19-year-old man that they suspect set the fire intentionally.

There was another fire on the morning of Dec. 28 at a Milwaukee apartment building near 107th and Bradley. This fire displaced around 20 people and left one man severely burned.

"That individual suffered serious burns. That patient was transported to St. Mary's. Unknown conditions at this time," Milwaukee Fire Department Deputy Chief Erich Roden said.

According to Roden, about 65 to 70 firefighters were at the location trying to bring the situation under control.

"The flames were really huge. They were tall. They were orangish-yellow, and there was a lot of smoke. Like so much smoke to the point where it was going over that way. I was just like, 'That's a lot of smoke,'" said Malik Franklin, who lives nearby.
