State Sen. Tim Carpenter (D-WI) has requested the conclusion of an inquiry into possible voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election, according to a Newsweek report.
Carpenter's request comes on the heels of Wisconsin Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos' recent statement that he hopes the investigation is completed by the end of January.
Vos first launched an investigation into possible voter fraud during the 2020 presidential race last year.
"It is long overdue for Republican legislators to tell Speaker Robin Vos to immediately halt this ridiculously wasteful $676,000 fleecing of Wisconsin taxpayers,” Carpenter stated on Twitter.
Former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman is leading the investigation, which was initially scheduled to be finished by the end of 2021, according to a report by Wisconsin Public Radio report.
So far, no official reports have been disclosed to the public.
Vos' spokesperson Angela Joyce stated that the speaker hopes Gableman would deliver the results of his investigation by the end of January or early February.
Legal complications might delay this timeframe, however, as Attorney General Josh Kaul has filed a lawsuit against Gableman for issuing subpoenas to Wisconsin Elections Commissioner administrator Meagan Wolfe.
Gableman issued the subpoenas in an effort to order the commission to provide all election-related information and a ruling on Kaul's case is anticipated around mid-January.
Additionally, Gableman sent subpoenas on Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway and officials from other Democrat-leaning cities, seeking the information as to whether they unlawfully collected $9 million in "Zuckbucks" from the Center for Technology and Civil Life, according to a Fox News report.
However, nobody has responded to these subpoenas and Gableman has filed a lawsuit requiring the mayors of Madison and Green Bay to appear in closed-door interviews or face prison time for disobedience.
Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich responded by filing a lawsuit seeking sanctions against Gableman for purported misstatements concerning the mayor's answer to the subpoena.
