Giannis Antetokounmpo has tunnel-vision as the Milwaukee Bucks prepare to defend their NBA title.
Even as Coach Mike Budenholzer tinkers with lineup changes that saw veteran swingman Wesley Matthews recently replace Grayson Allen in the starting lineup and with the Bucks still battling for playoff positioning in the ultra-competitive Eastern Conference, the former league MVP is keeping his eyes on the prize, according to a report from the site, Behind the Buck Pass.
“Tough one. Let’s get the next one,” Antetokounmpo posted to Twitter soon after the Bucks lost a 118-112 battle to the Dallas Mavericks April 3. During that contest, Antetokounmpo injured his hand.
He assured fans the injury will not slow him down.
“I’m good,” he said in a video posted to Twitter. “As long as I can play with my son and I can push him over and all that stuff, I’m good. I just got to take care of it. But I’ve got to be extremely careful with it because I’m a player that gets hit a lot when I drive the ball, especially my fingers and my hand. But my hand’s not going to stop me from competing and enjoying the game.”
With Allen’s scoring down from 11.3 as a starter to 7.7 since coming off the bench, the Bucks have also moved to add Spanish League player Luca Vildoza to their playoff roster, according to ESPN. Vildoza recently recovered from foot surgery which prevented him from joining the New York Knicks last spring when they signed him.
