The Milwaukee Brewers recent rash of injuries is starting to take a toll.

The Brewers dropped three of four games to the San Diego Padres during a recent stretch, going scoreless in two of the losses and being outscored 17-6 over the last three games, according to a June 5 report by Brew Crew Ball. The Brewers broke their scoreless streak during the final game of the series on a Kolten Wong homer off Padres starter Mike Clevinger.

Wong added another blast in the 8th, but the Padres stormed back to win it 6-4 on a 10th inning home run by Jake Cronenworth, spoiling starter Eric Lauer’s solid, six-inning, four strikeout performance where he allowed just one earned run, according to a report by WISN.

All the damage against Lauer was done in the fifth inning, when the Padres stringed together three hits and benefited from a Pablo Reyes’ error to score three runs.

“It didn’t seem like there was a lot of super-hard contact,” Lauer said. “A couple of dink hits and weird things that went on ended up costing us. Sometimes that’s how baseball goes.”

With the loss, the Brewers fell to 1-5 over their last six games and their Central Division lead slipped to just a game over the Cardinals.

“We’re just in a little stretch where we’re not getting much going,” said Brewer’s manager Craig Counsell.
