The Milwaukee Bucks recently added longtime NBA veteran forward DeMarre Carroll to their coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Over the course of Carroll’s 11-year career, he appeared in 578 games with Memphis, Houston, Denver, Utah, Atlanta, Toronto, Brooklyn, and San Antonio, according to a press release. He reunites with Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer, who he played under for two seasons in Atlanta, including the 2014-15 season when the Hawks won 60 games and advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals.
“Excited to be shadowing one of the best coaches in the league,” Carroll said in a tweet Aug. 2. “He’s been a mentor throughout my career. Thank you, Coach Bud, and the Milwaukee Bucks Organization, for allowing me this assistant coaching opportunity.”
Carroll is widely thought to be a shrewd hire given his recent NBA experience and ability to relate to players as the Bucks prepare to go for a second NBA title over the last three seasons.
Budenholzer said the rest of his staff will remain intact, sans a few tweaks and promotions, according to the release.
Now entering his fifth season with the team and ninth working alongside Budenholzer, Charles Lee is now associate head coach, while Vince Legarza and Blaine Mueller will be assistant coaches and Sidney Dobner will serve as head video coordinator, the release stated.
