The Milwaukee Bucks are holding firm in their defense of league supremacy.

Bucks Gaming, an affiliate of the team, is now home to the NBA 2K League champions after the esports team blitzed Wizards District Gaming 3-1 in the best-of-five League Finals earlier this month to earn the virtual court title in Indianapolis.

WISN.com reports that the players and organization cashed in on a $500,000 prize along with the title in what was just the team’s second playoff appearance in history. The organization gets 30% of the winnings, and the players pocket the remaining 70%.

“A big congratulations to the 2022 NBA 2K Champions Bucks Gaming,” Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson tweeted. “These individuals proved that playing video games can be productive, make you money, and even bring home another championship for the @Bucks!”

The team roster includes Artreyo "Dimez" Boyd, Jeremy "Seese" Seese, Dawson "Dawsix" Thomas, Michael "Cooks" Campbell and Mason "Johhny" Bracken, with Boyd named as team MVP after being traded from Toronto earlier this year.

"I just try to take it all in, you know,” Boyd said. “It still hasn't really all hit. A lot of sacrifices... We did it for y'all Milwaukee. We got this one and hopefully, we'll get another one next year. We're locked in."

Players, coaches and managers recently met with Johnson and County Executive David Crowley for a celebration, with Aug. 30 being declared as Bucks Gaming Day across the city.
