On behalf of the entire team here at MMAC, we wish you a happy holiday season and new year.
The end of 2022 is an opportunity to reflect on what we’ve accomplished together this year -- and look forward to the important work we still have left to do. Through it all, our main takeaway is this: Even as we sail into strong headwinds, metro Milwaukee’s momentum is real.
Despite the effects of inflation, rising interest rates, sustained labor shortages and lingering supply chain issues, MMAC remains focused on what we can control to improve the region’s competitiveness.
Regional employment is rebounding to levels near the all-time highs we saw just before the pandemic. Our employment prospects are bolstered by the work of the Milwaukee 7, facilitating corporate expansion and attraction projects throughout the region. Just a few examples include Fiserv’s decision to keep its headquarters in the region, Milwaukee Tool expanding in West Bend and downtown, Niche Coco arriving in Franklin (from Ghana!) and Grand Craft now making its remarkable yachts in Walworth.
An MMAC-led coalition of 125-plus employers continues to work to make Milwaukee a Region of Choice for all, with progress on pace to reach their goals of diverse hiring and advancement. Our support of an expanded convention center and partnership with VISIT Milwaukee helped make the 2024 Republican National Convention a reality, once again putting us in an international spotlight in July 2024.
There is more work to be done. We must find new revenue solutions to help the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County continue to provide essential services. Our employers need resources to address talent issues. And our K-12 education system needs more high-quality seats for students. We are committed to help solve these issues.
The vital behind the scenes work that keeps our region’s economy on track never stops. We’re here to help you solve challenges, provide insights to anticipate what’s coming next, and serve as your advocate in City Hall, Madison and Washington.
When you join MMAC, you become part of an organization that has served Metro Milwaukee’s business community since 1861. And what was true back then remains true today: None of the work we do could happen without your support.
To our MMAC members and M7 investors, thank you. And if you’re not currently involved, please reach out to our team. We need you on board, because the future competitiveness of our region is at stake every day.
