On April 21st, our popular “Pawcasso Gallery Night” benefiting Milwaukee Pets Alive fundraiser is BACK and we need your help to make it a success again! This year, it will be held at Broken Bat Brewery in the Third Ward. Our event will coincide with Gallery Night MKE that occurs on the same night. We are looking for big-hearted artists to create and donate an original piece of artwork for this event that we will display around our host venue for attendees to view and purchase the night of the event, raising vital funds for specialist and primary veterinary care, medications, food, and supplies for our special needs and considerations animals – and guests will have the chance to own a one-of-a-kind piece of art to cherish for years to come!

The common theme for all donated art pieces should be that they are of, or relating to, companion animals (cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, fish, chinchillas, turtles, gerbils, hamsters, etc.). The art can be of any size and any medium – paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography, mixed media, etc. – whatever you choose! A companion animal themselves need not be the subject of your piece as long as the subject is relating to companion animals – so if you are inspired by paw prints, want to make a textile out of dozens of dog collars, or a sculpture out of cat toys, the sky…and your creativity…is the limit! Do your art as you do!

We ask that pieces be original works of art (not a print of an original) and that all donated pieces be ready to display and sell (so for example, if you are donating a piece of photography, that it be donated as a printed piece, not as a digital file). We would appreciate your inclusion of a suggested price for your piece to guide us in pricing it, though not necessary. Please include a note describing the medium(s) used to create your work of art, and if you have a name for your piece, please include that, too! The night of the event, we will have your name as the artist appear next to your donated piece on display. As a 501c3 nonprofit, your donation is also tax-deductible.

Our deadline for submission will be April 14th. We are currently working on securing a centrally located drop-off location and will be able to provide details once you get ready to submit your piece! If you’re outside the Metro area, please inform us and an address can be provided to ship your piece to. Please let us know if you would be interested in contributing by emailing events@milwaukeepetsalive.org so we can get an idea of how many pieces we will have.

We can also answer any questions you may have. If you aren’t an artist, you can still help! Please share this need with any artists you know who might want to create, and donate. Will you help us help the animals that without Milwaukee Pets Alive, would have no one? We would be so grateful for you to share your talents with those that need us most.

Thank you very much! With your help, this is sure to be an incredible fundraiser and evening. www.milwaukeepetsalive.org Milwaukee Pets Alive (MPA) is an all-volunteer, No Kill, 501c3 special needs and considerations rescue that focuses on saving those local animals that have been passed over by, would not be accepted into, or would be killed by other rescues and shelters because of their needs and considerations and would have no other option for life except for through our organization.

These animals may be shy, scared, under-socialized, injured, aged, differently-abled, have medical needs, or need extra resources – all deserve the chance to be loved and cherished. And all deserve time, understanding, patience, and good, comprehensive veterinary care to help them get happy, healthy, and reach their highest potential. Their lives are important.
