Community members are invited to take part in the upcoming Milwaukee Sister Cities Day celebration that will take place on Wednesday, July 12 at City Hall, 200 E. Wells St. The meet-and-greet style event, hosted by Sister Cities Committee Chair Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II, is organized in recognition of Milwaukee’s many prosperous sister city relationships that span five countries.
“At its core, sister cities are about fostering people-to-people diplomacy. Milwaukee is grateful to have serval strong relationships with cities across the world, and this event next week offers a unique opportunity to engage with Milwaukee’s peers across the globe,” said Alderman Stamper.
Milwaukee’s current sister cities that will be in attendance include: Bomet County, Kenya; Galway, Ireland; Irpin, Ukraine; Tarime District, Tanzania; and Zadar, Croatia. The event will also include prospective sister city communities, and feature a variety of cultural entertainment, music, and food.
The event kicks off at 10 a.m., will include a formal program at noon, and refreshments and food will be provided after the program. Entertainment will take place throughout the event. Media coverage is invited. The event is free and open to the public
