The Common Council voted on July 11 to adopt file #230331 – a resolution approving a Project Plan and a Development Agreement, authorizing expenditures and creating Tax Incremental District No. 116 (Riverwest Apartments and Food Accelerator), in the 3rd Aldermanic District. The file, sponsored by area Alderperson Jonathan Brostoff, assists in advancing the development of a project containing a mixed-use development with 91 apartments and approximately 2,500 square feet of ground floor space related to food, cooking and nutrition education and food oriented entrepreneurship.

General Capital Group LLP and KG Development Group LLC are poised to develop the project, located on the edge of Riverwest in the 3rd Aldermanic District, and just west of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's RiverView Residence Hall. The files adopted today included the land sale, a zoning change, and the creation of Tax Incremental District No. 116.

“I’m thrilled that today this project took one more step forward. Having access to more affordable housing is always a positive for the Eastside, and the city as a whole, particularly along the North Avenue corridor,” said Alderperson Brostoff. “This mixeduse project will also provide a unique opportunity to promote healthy living via nutrition classes, urban agriculture demonstration projects, satellite culinary classes, as well as support for food-centric entrepreneurs. I look forward to the impact this development will have on the community.”
