Summerfest hosts third annual Alumni Charity Challenge to benefit local charities

MILWAUKEE – For the third consecutive year, former basketball stars from the Milwaukee Panthers, Wisconsin Badgers, Marquette Golden Eagles, and Green Bay Phoenix will reunite to raise money for charity and compete on the court.

The event is scheduled for Friday, June 28th at 4 p.m. at the Gruber Law Offices Sportszone during Summerfest. Alumni from each university will participate in the 2s FREES 3s™ shooting challenge to support four charitable organizations: Garding Against Cancer, Autism Society of SE Wisconsin, The Ability Center, and Make-A-Wish Wisconsin.

Representing the Milwaukee squad are Austin Arians, Ricky Franklin, and Cody Wichmann.

Summerfest presented by American Family Insurance will host the third annual Alumni Charity Challenge on Friday, June 28 at 4:00 p.m. at the Gruber Law Office SportsZone with Newsradio 620 WTMJ, ESPN Milwaukee, and 101.7 THE TRUTH. The challenge features former men's and women's basketball players from Marquette Golden Eagles, Milwaukee Panthers, Wisconsin Badgers, and Green Bay Phoenix reuniting to raise funds for charity.

Participating alumni include:

- Marquette Golden Eagles: Steve Novak, Erika Davenport, Dan Fitzgerald

- Milwaukee Panthers: Austin Arians, Ricky Franklin, Cody Wichmann

- Wisconsin Badgers: Ben Brust, Kirk Penney, Brevin Pritzl

- Green Bay Phoenix: Frankie Wurtz, Keifer Sykes, Carrington Love

Alumni players will compete in a tournament-style competition supporting their respective charities:

- Marquette Golden Eagles: The Ability Center

- Milwaukee Panthers: Autism Society of SE Wisconsin

- Wisconsin Badgers: Garding Against Cancer

- Green Bay Phoenix: Make-A-Wish Wisconsin

The community is encouraged to support their favorite team by making donations at Summerfest.com. Fans who donate a minimum of $10 on behalf of their favorite team will receive a Summerfest ticket valid for Friday, June 28th. The team that raises the most money will earn bonus points in the competition.

The Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin aims to improve lives affected by autism through public awareness initiatives and advocacy for appropriate services across lifespans while providing updated information regarding treatment and education.
