MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee women's cross country team was picked to finish second in the Horizon League preseason poll, while the men were slotted for the sixth spot.
The women, aiming to win their fifth Horizon League title in seven years, received 105 points in the poll, finishing behind only Oakland (116 points) and picking up three first-place votes.
The Panthers will attempt to regain control over the league this year, bringing back their top runner Anelise Egge, who took fifth at the Horizon League Championships last year. Milwaukee also returns top performers Cailin Kinas, Brittney Helm, Eileen Tocco, and Ella Schmitz.

After a seventh-place finish at the Horizon League Championships last year, Milwaukee's men were placed in the sixth spot this year as they aim to improve their standings.
The Panthers are entering this season with a mix of experience and new faces. Fifth-year veterans Nate Griepentrog and Trey Meir are expected to lead the squad alongside standout performers Carter Eckhoff, Lucas Picco, and Cullen Boyle.
