MILWAUKEE—The Milwaukee Cross Country team will compete this Saturday, Sept. 21, at the John McNichols Invitational, hosted by Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind.

After a week off, the Panthers aim to build on their positive performances from the first two meets. The event begins with the men's 8k at 9:00 a.m., followed by the women's 6k at 9:45 a.m. The race will take place at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.

On the women's side, Anelise Egge is expected to deliver another strong performance after securing back-to-back first-place finishes earlier this season. Cailin Kinas and Rachel Helm are also key athletes to watch following their robust starts to the year. This trio has led Milwaukee to a season-opening win at the Tom Barry Invitational and a fourth-place finish at the Phoenix Open.

The team also hopes for continued progress from newcomers Hallie Hoger, Joely Overstreet, and Isabella Switalski. These additions have significantly contributed through two meets in Black & Gold.

For the men's team, Milwaukee seeks further improvement after six runners set personal bests at the Phoenix Open. Carter Eckhoff (25:17.5) and Sam Schreiber (25:22.9) were among those achieving new records last meet and have been leading early in the season.

Eckhoff finished second at the Tom Barry Invite and subsequently placed 11th in his next race. Schreiber closely followed with fifth and 13th place finishes respectively in both events. Cullen Boyle completes this leading trio with ninth and tenth place finishes, aiding Milwaukee to second and fifth-place team standings.

As they enter this weekend's crowded field, contributions are also anticipated from Lucas Picco and freshman Nathan Powley, who have started their seasons well.

UP NEXT

The Panthers will return in two weeks for Notre Dame's Joe Piane Invitational in South Bend, Ind., on Friday Oct. 4 at 10:30 a.m., followed by Wisconsin Lutheran's Warrior Invitational on Saturday Oct. 5 at 11:00 a.m.
