The Milwaukee men's cross country team participated in the Joe Piane Invitational at Notre Dame on Friday. The Panthers' top five runners achieved career-best performances, led by Cullen Boyle, who finished 33rd with a time of 24:50.6.

"Cullen put himself in a position to crack the 25-minute barrier and should have a lot of confidence leaving this race," said head coach Andrew Basler.

Sam Schreiber secured 46th place with a time of 25:04.6, followed by Carter Eckhoff in 56th place, finishing in 25:13.6. The team placed 15th out of 18 teams with a total of 314 points.

"The fact we have our top three guys all finishing in different order each week shows any of them can have a monster race on a given day," stated associate head coach Jake Reilly. "We have very strong four through seven runners as well so we know we have the ability. We just need to go out and all perform on one weekend."

Will Whiteis and Aidan Sosnowski also recorded career-best times, finishing at 25:42.1 and 26:05.8 respectively.

"I thought our guys raced great as a unit," continued Basler "Sam, Carter, Will and Aidan all had career bests as well. We are definitely moving in the right direction, and I believe this group can come together to make some serious noise at the Horizon League Championships."

Looking ahead, Milwaukee will compete at Wisconsin Lutheran's Warrior Classic on Saturday, October 5th at 11:00 a.m., followed by Bradley's Pink Classic in Peoria, Illinois on Friday, October 18th at 1:30 p.m., their final event before the Horizon League Championships.
