Three members of the Milwaukee Panthers women's basketball team have received postseason honors from the Horizon League, as announced by the conference office. Jorey Buwalda, Grace Crowley, and Kendall Nead were recognized for their performances this season.
Kendall Nead was named to the All-League Second Team after her senior season with the Panthers. She also received the league's inaugural Sportsmanship Award. Previously selected to the Preseason All-League Second Team, Nead became the 32nd player in program history to earn All-League honors since Milwaukee joined the Horizon League in 1994. This season, she was sixth in scoring with an average of 14 points per game and ranked third in field goals made (172).
Grace Crowley earned individual recognition as the Horizon League's Sixth Player of the Year. Despite missing some games due to an early-season injury, Crowley played a key role off the bench in 22 of 26 games she participated in. She led her team with a field goal percentage of 67%, setting a program record by making all ten attempts in a game against Youngstown State on February 3.
Jorey Buwalda secured a spot on the All-Freshman Team after contributing significantly during her first season. She appeared in all 31 games and made seven starts for Milwaukee. Buwalda averaged 18.6 minutes per game and led her team with both total rebounds (173) and offensive rebounds (52).
Head coach Kyle Rechlicz expressed pride in his players' achievements: "We have a really special team this year that's full of balance," he said. "I'm thankful that the other coaches in the Horizon League saw the same value in some of our players that we do daily."
Milwaukee will compete as the fifth seed in the upcoming Barbasol Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship, facing fourth-seeded Wright State on Thursday evening at 4:30 p.m. (CT).
In addition to Milwaukee's honorees, Cleveland State's Colbi Maples was named Player of the Year, while Chris Kielsmeier took Coach of the Year honors. Mickayla Perdue was awarded Newcomer of the Year, and Carmen Villalobos received Defensive Player of the Year recognition.
Northern Kentucky's Carter McCray was honored as Freshman of the Year, while Callie Genke from Green Bay shared Sixth Player of the Year accolades with Crowley. Youngstown State's Mady Aulbach split Sportsmanship Award honors with Nead.
