On Thursday, Milwaukee women's basketball head coach Kyle Rechlicz announced the signing of Kendall Barnes to the Panthers. Barnes has signed her National Letter of Intent and will join the team for the upcoming season.
"There is nothing like finishing our 2024 class with a bang," said Rechlicz about Barnes' signing. "Kendall has a toughness and determination you don't find much at the high school level. She has a knack for getting to the rim and finishing."
Rechlicz added, "We can't wait to work with her and help her reach her goals as a player and a person."
Barnes played for East Ridge High School in Woodbury, Minnesota, where she contributed to a 20-win season as a senior and an appearance in the Class 4A Section 4 Championship Game. She began her senior year at Roseville Area High School, averaging over 20 points per game in 17 games with the Silver Foxes. Her playing career also included time at DeLaSalle High School.
During high school, Barnes helped her teams achieve four state tournament appearances. She was nominated for Minnesota Miss Basketball and selected as a Minnesota State All-Star. Her accolades include three All-Conference selections, two All-State Honorable Mentions, and being named SEC Defensive Player of the Year twice.
Barnes was also active in track, winning a state championship in the 4x400 relay and becoming conference champion in the 300m hurdles. She earned all-conference honors twice in both events.
Academically, Barnes participated in BSU and was involved with AVID and the Athletic Leadership Council.
Barnes joins Milwaukee's incoming class alongside CeCe McNair, Kallie Peppler, Kacee Baumhower, and Grace Lomen.
