The Milwaukee women's tennis team is set to face Chicago State on Saturday afternoon, aiming to recover from recent challenges against top-ranked Horizon League teams. The Panthers will compete at the H-F Racquet & Fitness Club in Homewood, Illinois, with the match scheduled to start at noon.

Chicago State holds the No. 3 preseason seed and has a 2-1 record in conference play, following victories over Oakland and Cleveland State. Milwaukee currently stands at 7-10 overall and 1-2 in league play after facing defeats by Cleveland State and Youngstown State last week.

Milwaukee has a historical edge over Chicago State with a 10-8 all-time record. Last season, Chicago State won their encounter 5-2. The Cougars are transitioning to the Northeast Conference next year after participating as an affiliate member of the Horizon League for two seasons.

Chicago State's Manuella Eloundou leads her team in singles wins with an 11-11 record, while Sofiya Sedovich and Ethel Li have strong doubles records of 13-7 each. Jack Barton has been coaching both men's and women's tennis programs since January 2010.

For Milwaukee, Nadiia Konieva is having a successful season with a 15-7 singles record. She recently ended a ten-match winning streak against Wisconsin. Coach Mark Goldin, who joined Milwaukee last August, brings extensive experience from his previous tenure at Cardinal Stritch University.

The Panthers' roster includes players from seven different countries and features returners like Nadiia Konieva, who was named All-Horizon League First Team last season. This fall, Milwaukee competed in three tournaments with notable performances from Konieva and newcomer Laure Razet.

Milwaukee looks forward to wrapping up its regular season next week against Northern Kentucky and IUPUI before heading into postseason play.
