The Milwaukee women's tennis team secured a decisive 6-1 victory over IUPUI at the West Indy Racquet Club on Sunday. This win concluded a successful weekend for the Panthers, who improved their season record to 9-11 and 3-3 in the Horizon League.

Head coach Mark Goldin expressed satisfaction with the team's performance. "We have everyone playing solid tennis and getting healthy at the right time of the season," Goldin stated. He emphasized the importance of these wins, saying, "That's two big conference match victories to end the regular season and clinch the No. 4 seed for the conference tournament next weekend."

In doubles play, Milwaukee's Laure Razet and Sara Simonova defeated Elle Kotre and Gabbie Orlando, while Iva Stejskalova and Emilia Durska overcame Jordyn Pax and Sofia Castillo. Babette Burgersdijk sustained an injury during doubles, leading to her replacement by Stejskalova in singles.

Stejskalova excelled in singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Castillo. Following her was Emilia Durska who bested Pax with a score of 6-3, 6-1. Razet also contributed to Milwaukee's advantage by defeating Kotre.

Nadiia Konieva stepped up to play No. 1 singles against Chloe Bailey and clinched Milwaukee's victory with scores of 6-2, 6-3. Goldin praised his players' efforts: "Babs (Babbette) sat out of singles with a groin strain and Iva really stepped up, winning both singles and doubles on the day," he noted. "And Nadiia came through with the clinch for us today."

Evelina Anastasi rounded off Milwaukee's success by overcoming Orlando at No. 5 singles. Meanwhile, Simonova narrowly missed securing a complete sweep after losing in a third-set tiebreaker.

With this victory, Milwaukee is set to enter the Horizon League Tournament as the fourth seed. The event will take place from April 26 to April 28 at Schwartz Tennis Center in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Goldin concluded by stating that they will focus on preparing for individual matchups ahead of next weekend’s tournament: "We will use this week to prepare for each individual matchup and look forward to carrying this momentum we are building into next weekend."
