The Milwaukee men's and women's swimming and diving teams are preparing for the Horizon League Championships, which will be held from February 14-17 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The event is hosted by IUPUI.
The championships begin on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with the women's 3-meter diving preliminary and consolation final rounds. The diving finals, along with the 200 medley relay and the 800 free relay, will occur later in the afternoon.
For those interested in attending or following the event, information can be found on the conference's Championship Central page. This includes ticketing details, directions, and a meet schedule. However, heat sheets will not be available to the public.
Recently, the Panthers completed their regular season with dual meet victories over St. Thomas and Stevens Point at home. Thirteen seniors were honored before their Saturday contest for their contributions to the program.
The men's team ended its regular season with a record of 6-2 overall and an undefeated 5-0 at home, entering the championships with five consecutive wins. The women's team achieved an 8-1 overall record and was 5-1 at home, losing only to Indiana State in their opening match.
Milwaukee's diving squad has been successful this year, earning several conference diver of the week awards. Julie Rebek received four awards, tying for most in the conference, while Adam St. John also won one award on October 25th.
Historically, Milwaukee has claimed seven league championships between both teams since joining Horizon League Swimming & Diving (HLSD). The men have won four titles while the women have secured three. Since 1998, Milwaukee women have finished lower than third just once—fifth place during the 2019-20 championships—and men have consistently earned top-three finishes ten times.
This championship meet concludes Milwaukee's team competition for this season; however individual divers will proceed to NCAA Zone D regionals while qualifying swimmers advance to NCAA Championships.
