Milwaukee finishes second at Horizon League track & field championships

The Milwaukee men's track and field team concluded the Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships as runners-up, accumulating 192 points. Youngstown State took first place with a total of 294 points.

Head coach Andrew Basler expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, "I'm proud of our men for their fight this weekend. I thought there was a lot more energy and commitment from them compared to the indoor season."

Golden Cotton delivered an outstanding performance by securing victories in multiple events. He won the 100m dash with a time of 10.37 seconds and later claimed victory in the 200m race, clocking in at 21.41 seconds. Additionally, Cotton contributed to the team's win in the 4x100m relay alongside teammates Anthony Kessler, Zac Schmidt, and Jaelyn Reeves-Lile with a time of 41.18 seconds.

Cotton's achievements earned him the title of Outstanding Runner of the Meet. Liam Richards received recognition as Men's Freshman Field Athlete of the Year for both indoor and outdoor seasons.

Coach Basler praised Cotton's accomplishments: "Golden finished his last Horizon League Championships in a stellar manner...showing why he is one of the best sprinters this conference has seen."

Caleb Henry emerged victorious in the 400m race with a time of 46.92 seconds, moving up to third place in Milwaukee history for that event. Henry also participated in winning efforts for Milwaukee's team during the 4x400m relay along with Jackson Statz, Dane Nelson, and Schmidt.

Nelson secured runner-up positions in both hurdle events: he recorded times of 14.14 seconds (110m hurdles) and improved his personal bests while competing within other disciplines such as triple jump or high jump throughout these championships too.

Coach Basler remarked on Nelson's performance: "Dane claimed two runner-up finishes with two personal best performances."

In field events like triple jump or high jumps were equally notable performances from athletes including Divine Aniamaka finishing second behind Will Mortimer who placed third overall; Anthony Thomas led high-jump competitors finishing fourth among others representing Panther athletics programs respectively here today

Basler acknowledged those involved behind scenes supporting student-athletes: "I'd like to thank my staff...they work tirelessly behind scenes so our student-athletes are most prepared compete at their best"

Looking ahead next week's opportunity arises before attention shifts toward NCAA West Prelims scheduled May Fayetteville Arkansas where current top-48 rankings see both Golden Anthony positioned well respective events upcoming competition cycle
