The Milwaukee men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete in the Pioneer Gender Equity Invite in Cuba City, Wisconsin. The event, hosted by Platteville, will take place at Coles Acres Golf Course. The men's 8K race is scheduled for 11:00 AM, followed closely by the women's 6K race at approximately 11:03 AM. No live results will be available during the competition.
In their last outing at the John McNichols Invitational hosted by Indiana State, the Milwaukee men's team secured a 10th place finish out of 18 teams. Aidan Sodemann led the Panthers with a notable performance, finishing 14th among 257 runners with a career-best time of 24:35.5 in the 8K race. "Sodemann had an outstanding day," head coach Andrew Basler commented, expressing optimism about Sodemann's momentum heading into future competitions.
Cullen Boyle and Bryce Tome also delivered strong performances for Milwaukee, achieving career-best times of 25:01.4 and 25:19.4 respectively. Basler praised his team's overall performance and expressed pride in their achievements.
On the women's side, Milwaukee finished in 11th place out of 18 teams at the same invitational event. The team was just behind Bellarmine's score of 287 points with their own total of 296 points. "We finished much better than we did last year at this meet," said Basler, noting that the field was more competitive this year.
Anelise Egge led her team with a career-best time of 18:19.5 to secure a 28th place finish. Cailin Kinas and Eileen Tocco also contributed with strong performances, finishing in 46th and 69th places respectively.
Looking ahead, after competing in Cuba City, Milwaukee has two more meets before participating in the Horizon League Championships on October 28th. They will next travel to Eau Claire for the Blugold Invite on September 29th before taking part in the Bradley Pink Classic on October 13th.
