Milwaukee men's cross country senior Aidan Sodemann has been recognized as the Horizon League Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, according to an announcement made by the league office on Tuesday. This marks Sodemann as the second recipient of this award for the 2023 season and he is also the first Panther to receive it this year.
Sodemann led Milwaukee at the Phoenix Open in Green Bay, which was their only meet of the week. He finished in third place out of 101 competitors at this event. Sodemann recorded a season-best time of 25:13.9 in the 8K race, trailing just 11.4 seconds behind the first-place finisher.
In comparison to his performance last year at the same meet, where he finished with a time of 26:46.5, Sodemann showed significant improvement with a full 90-second reduction in his time over one year.
Looking ahead, Sodemann's next opportunity to compete with the Panthers will be on Saturday at the John McNichols Invite hosted by Indiana State.
