The Milwaukee men's swimming and diving team demonstrated a strong performance on Saturday against Wheaton, securing victories in 10 events. The Panthers finished with a score of 149-68, marking their first win of the season and improving their record to 1-2.
Head coach Kyle Clements commented on the outcome, stating, "Saturday was a good end to our fall dual meet season. We were able to race some of our 'off' events that we don't get to swim in a standard dual meet, but we will have to swim in a championship format. Getting those reps against another good team does nothing but help us in the future."
Milwaukee's success was highlighted by victories in 10 out of 11 swimming events, with eight different swimmers claiming individual wins. The team's performance began strongly with the top four spots in the 200 medley relay and concluded by winning the 200 freestyle relay.
In individual competitions, Konnor Pilger won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:06.7. Gunnar Seversen followed with a victory in the 200 freestyle at 1:44.83. Charlie House claimed first place in the 50 freestyle, finishing at 21.15 seconds.
Jay Jensen dominated the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:08.14, while Victor Kostov won the 100 backstroke at 51.92 seconds. Caleb Carlisle continued his successful weekend by winning the 100 freestyle in 47.35 seconds, and Kevin Soltys closed out Milwaukee's winners by taking first place in another event.
Coach Clements expressed optimism about future competitions: "The team continues to swim faster and faster even though we were on a back-to-back on the road, which is a good sign going into the house of champions meet that is a three-day meet."
Next up for Milwaukee is participation in the IU Indianapolis House of Champions Meet from November 21 to November 23 at IU Natatorium.
