The Milwaukee men's track and field team participated in their first competition of the season at DePaul's Blue Demon Holiday Invite in Chicago. Jaelyn Reeves-Lile was a standout performer for the Panthers, setting a new school record in the 60-meter dash and securing victory in the 200-meter dash.

"Jaelyn Reeves-Lile had an outstanding first meet, breaking the school record in the 60-meter dash and almost breaking the record in the 200-meter dash is a great way to start the season," commented head coach Andrew Basler.

Reeves-Lile achieved a time of 6.76 seconds in the 60-meter event, surpassing Golden Cotton's previous record of 6.79 set last year. His winning time of 21.61 seconds in the 200 meters ranks as the third-best performance in Milwaukee's program history.

"We brought a small group down here, but we had a lot of positive results," Basler added, highlighting that "the hurdlers did really well – Iyimi was right there close to winning his first college meet."

Iyimi Fagbamiye made an impressive collegiate debut by securing second place in the 60-meter hurdles and recording a time of 8.06 seconds, which ranks seventh-best in school history.

In his first college meet, Ethan Mitchell also reached notable success by finishing second place in the long jump with a distance of 6.91 meters. Caden Thomas showed promise as well, tying for third place with a high jump height of 1.98 meters.

Looking ahead, Milwaukee will compete again on January 11 at Madison for the Badgers Midwest Invite.
