Milwaukee track & field heads to Badgers Midwest Invite this weekend

The Milwaukee track and field team is set to continue its season this Saturday in Chicago at the Badgers Midwest Invite, hosted by Wisconsin. The event will take place at the Worrill Track & Field Center at Gately Park. Competing alongside Milwaukee will be teams from Wisconsin, DePaul, Chicago State, Northern Illinois, and UIC.

Field events are scheduled to commence with the weight throw and long jump at 3:00 p.m., concluding with the high jump at 7:00 p.m. The track events will begin with the 4x800 relay at 3:55 p.m., followed by preliminaries for the 60m dash and 60m hurdles starting at 4:25 p.m. Final rounds are set to start with the 60m hurdles at 5:40 p.m., ending with the 4x400 relays at 7:45 p.m.

In their previous competition on December 13th at the Blue Demon Holiday Invite, both men's and women's teams secured a first-place finish each, with several athletes making it into the record books. This performance earned Milwaukee a sweep of all four Horizon League Athlete of the Week Awards, recognizing Jaelyn Reeves-Lile, Morgan Pilate, Ethan Mitchell, and Anna Szepieniec.

Reeves-Lile excelled for the Panther men by breaking the school's record in the 60m dash with a time of 6.76 seconds and winning the 200m dash with a time of 21.61 seconds—the third-best in school history.

Morgan Pilate had an impressive day for the women’s team with second-place finishes in both long jump (5.81 meters) and triple jump (12.01 meters), earning her league honors as well. Anna Szepieniec posted a time of 8.66 seconds in the 60m hurdles—sixth-best in school history—finishing fifth in that event.

Olivia VanZeeland topped her category in high jump, achieving a height of 1.69 meters—the fifth-best mark in program history.

Ethan Mitchell took second place in long jump with a distance of 6.91 meters leading an impressive freshman debut for Milwaukee's men’s team alongside Iyimi Fagbamiye who placed second in the 60m hurdles clocking an eighth-best program time of 8.06 seconds. Victoria Evtimov made it into Milwaukee's record book on behalf of women's side posting ninth-best program time for her fifth-place finish running a personal best mark timing out precisely when she crossed line competing over span measured lengthening entirety spanning entire duration course within confines parameters encompassing designated stretch outlined terrain amounting total reaching sum quantified determined factors considered during contest measuring collective athletic output throughout interval elapsed covering whole spectrum relative respective disciplines involved therein

Milwaukee will next travel to Fort Wayne, Indiana for Purdue Fort Wayne's Mastodon Invitational on January 17-18.
