Milwaukee women's basketball faced a challenging game against Wright State, resulting in a 69-61 defeat on Saturday. Kacee Baumhower led Milwaukee with 13 points, followed by Payton Rechlicz with 11, and Jorey Buwalda and Kamy Peppler each contributing nine points.

Wright State's defense proved effective, limiting Milwaukee to 32.7 percent shooting from the field. The Raiders capitalized on 17 turnovers by Milwaukee and secured 14 offensive rebounds, converting these into significant scoring opportunities.

Panther head coach Kyle Rechlicz acknowledged Wright State's strong home performance, stating, "Credit Wright State, they play very well at home versus on the road." Rechlicz emphasized the impact of turnovers and offensive rebounds on the game's outcome: "You can't have 17 turnovers and give up 69 points and expect to win many games."

In addition to Baumhower's performance, Milwaukee saw contributions from Kallie Peppler with seven points and Anna Lutz with six. The team managed to distribute the ball effectively, recording 12 assists.

Wright State was led by Amaya Staton, who achieved a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Makiya Miller added 11 points while Claire Henson and Lauren Scott each scored nine.

The game saw Wright State building an early lead through a strong second-quarter run. Despite efforts from Milwaukee to narrow the gap in the third quarter, they could not close it sufficiently in the final minutes.

Rechlicz noted the difficulty of closing the gap further: "We kept chopping into Wright State's lead, but we just couldn't get much closer than five or six points."

Anna Lutz contributed four assists for Milwaukee while leading defensively alongside Baumhower with two steals each. Buwalda topped Milwaukee's rebounding effort with nine boards.

Milwaukee will continue their road trip against IU Indy on Wednesday evening at The Jungle.
