The Milwaukee women's track and field team showcased a strong performance at the 12th annual Tierney Classic held at the Klotsche Center. The Panthers secured six first-place finishes during the event.
"The Tierney Classic is an electric home event," head coach Andrew Basler stated. "With many alumni back, the honoring of our seniors, and performing in front of family, I think that electricity brought out many great performances today. Thanks to all those who helped organize and run this successful home event."
Hailey Soriaga excelled in the pole vault, clearing 3.75 meters to win the event, marking her achievement as the seventh-best performance in school history.
Anna Szepieniec continued her impressive season with a victory in the triple jump, achieving a distance of 11.78 meters. She also performed well in the long jump, reaching 5.94 meters, placing her third on the school's all-time leaderboard.
Olivia Busch also delivered a notable performance in the triple jump, securing second place with a distance of 11.70 meters.
Kallie Volk tied for fourth all-time in school history for the high jump by clearing 1.70 meters, earning her second place in that event.
On the track, Milwaukee dominated the 60-meter dash by claiming the top four positions. Dominique Thomas led with a time of 7.60 seconds, followed by Katie Burns (7.76), Victoria Evtimov (7.79), and Isabel Roloff (7.79).
In other events, Cailin Kinas won the mile race with a time of 5:04.57, while Anelise Egge claimed victory in the 800-meter run at 2:15.51; Rachel Helm followed closely behind with a time of 2:16.10.
Angelica Refinski completed Milwaukee's list of winners by finishing first in her race with a time of 25.99 seconds.
The Panthers are scheduled to compete next weekend at Notre Dame's Meyo Invite on January 31st and February 1st in South Bend, Indiana.
